Sandusky Continues to Maintain Innocence

December 12th, 2011

The victims, preparing for the preliminary hearing tomorrow, are being told to ‘try to relax and to tell the truth.’  The lawyer of ‘Victim Number One’ says that the victim wants ‘nothing more than to see the victim behind bars’ as he prepares to face Sandusky in what will surely be a difficult situation.

Sandusky faces over 50 charges of criminal sexual abuse, with the addition of two new victims stepping forward earlier this month.  There are no plea talks taking place; his lawyer states that they are ready to move forward and preparing for the case.

Sandusky said he is vowing to prove his innocence.  He and his attorney, Joe Amendola, have pointed out inconsistencies in statements given by McQueary, the man who stated he was a witness to abuse that took place in the shower room.  No doubt these inconsistencies will be pointed out at the preliminary hearing, along with the statements of the accusers.

Sandusky Preliminary Hearing Only Hours Away

December 12th, 2011

The day before Jerry Sandusky’s key court hearing, his lawyers gave a statement saying that the former Penn State football coach is ‘looking forward to facing his accusers’ in the highly publicized child sex-abuse case.

The preliminary hearing is expected to last the entire day tomorrow, Tuesday the 13th, and possibly spill out into the next day.  This hearing will show if prosecutors have enough evidence to bring the case to trial.  Considering the mounting evidence and the fact that ten victims are willing to testify, it seems likely.

During the hearing, criminal lawyers say there are several things to look at, including the demeanor of the victims.  There is talk that they possibly have financial motives, as at most of the accusers have hired lawyers and intend to sue Sandusky.  Sandusky’s net value is questionable, at this point.

Other witnesses, including Michael McQueary, may be called as a witness.  McQueary reported that he saw Sandusky fondling a young boy in the shower.  He has been accused himself of not doing more to stop the abuse.

Citizens of Sandusky’s Home Town Shaken

December 10th, 2011

After hearing of accusations, the citizen’s of Sandusky’s small Pennsylvania town of 15,000 are angry and bewildered.

“It’s hard to believe, know what I mean?” said a friend and former classmate of Sandusky’s from high school, Ron Cimino.  In tears, he went on. “People in town were very proud of Jerry. Now they are angry because he is from Washington. They’re anxious; they want him punished before he is found guilty. I don’t want to believe it. It’s a shame.”

According to residents, there was a huge shift in loyalty and belief in Sandusky’s innocence after the last two accusations.  Because of the amount of allegations, residents are having a hard time believing that Sandusky is anything but guilty.

According to the victim’s most of the abuse took place in the home of Jerry & Dottie Sandusky, where they raised six adopted children.

Sandusky’s Wife Speaks Out About New Charges

December 10th, 2011

After two new victims speak out, Sandusky is being charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors.  Both new victims met Sandusky through his charity program to help underprivileged youth, Two Mile Island.

The new charges will be included in an already-scheduled preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

Until then, Sandusky is confined to his College Township, PA home, and is wearing an ankle monitor.  This follows a night in jail and the posting of $250K bail by his wife.  In light of the latest charges made by the newest two victims, questions are being asked about the involvement or awareness of wife Dorothy Sandusky.  According to one victim, she was home and ignored his screams as he was sexually assaulted in the basement by Sandusky.

Dottie’s statement:

“I have been shocked and dismayed by the allegations made against Jerry, particularly the most recent one that a now young man has said he was kept in our basement during visits and screamed for help as Jerry assaulted him while I was in our home and didn’t respond to his cries for help.

“As the mother of six children, I have been devastated by these accusations. I am also angry about these false accusations that such a terrible incident ever occurred in my home. No child who ever visited our home was ever forced to stay in our basement and fed there.  All the kids who visited us ate with us and our kids and other guests when they were at our home. Our children, our extended family and friends know how much Jerry and I love kids and have always tried to help and care for them. We would never do anything to hurt them. I am so sad anyone would make such a terrible accusation which is absolutely untrue. We don’t know why these young men have made these false accusations, but we want everyone to know they are untrue.

“I continue to believe in Jerry’s innocence and all the good things he has done. Jerry’s many success stories with his Second Mile kids and positive memories of those kids keep me going. I am asking everyone to please be reasonable and open-minded until both sides of this case are heard, and Jerry has the opportunity to prove his innocence.

“I would like to thank all those individuals who continue to support Jerry and hope they will continue to support us through the conclusion of this very sad time in our lives.

Sandusky’s Wife Dorothy Posts $250K Bail

December 9th, 2011

After a night in jail, Sandusky’s wife Dottie posted a $250,000 bail, saying that he was innocent of all charges.  She stated that they both loved children and would never hurt him, adding that she didn’t understand why ‘these young men have made these false accusations.’

She handed over a $50,000 cheque in addition to Sandusky using $200,000 in real estate holdings to post the bail, according to online court records.
Sandusky  is facing now over 50 charges, as opposed to the 40 he was initially charged with.  Now nearing 70, Sandusky reached out to one of his supposed former victims just this last week, leaving him a message about a ‘very important’ matter, though the boy (now 24) cut off ties with Sandusky years ago.
All of the victims claim that they were bribed with sports tickets, gifts and even money and told to keep things ‘secret’.  Sandusky and his wife both maintain he is innocent.

Two More Victims Press Charges

December 9th, 2011

This week two more victims came forward with accusations of molestation and forcible rape against Jerry Sandusky, bringing the amount of prosecuting victims to a total of ten.  One new victim (whose name is being withheld like the other victim’s names) was between the ages of ten and twelve when the abuse occurred.  He, like the other victims, met Sandusky through the Second Mile Charity.

After Sandusky spoke with the boy’s mother, he began inviting the victim over for sleepovers and for overnight stays in hotels.  The man, now 19 and identified as Victim 9, states that he was required to stay in the basement at all times during his visits with Sandusky.  He was brought his meals in the basement and was told he could only leave with Sandusky’s approval.  At one point, knowing Sandusky’s wife Dottie was home, he screamed for help and was ignored.

Police arrested Sandusky, who was wearing his Penn State jump suit, in his home in the middle of the day and brought him in for questioning by state police.  Bail was set at 250,000 cash.

With the preliminary hearing only days away, things are not looking good for Sandusky.

Sandusky Preliminary Hearing Only One Week Away

December 5th, 2011

Jerry Sandusky is scheduled to appear in court for his preliminary hearing on December 13th, and things are looking worse and worse.

Following the news that all eight victims will be testifying, he continues to deny the accusations that he molested these boys over the course of 40 years.

In a recent interview, he stated that he couldn’t say he wasn’t attracted to young boys because that wasn’t true.  He then stumbled on his words, trying to say that he was attracted to both young girls AND boys.  His lawyer had to intervene and clarify that he didn’t mean ‘sexually.’

Many people were surprised at his decision to give an interview, because even if he doesn’t testify in court, what he says publicly before trial can be used against him.  Generally a lawyer will advise against his client participating in any sort of interview.

All Eight Victims to Testify Against Jerry Sandusky

December 5th, 2011

According to people close to the case, the latest news in the Jerry Sandusky case is that all eight victims will no testify.  This is a huge blow to the defense, as previously, Sandusky’s lawyer stated that at least one of the boys had denied abuse.

The 67-year-old former Penn State coach claimed to be a father figure for at risk boys and teens through his Second Mile charity for kids.  However, in 2002 it is said that graduate assistant Mike McQuea  saw Sandusky raping a young boy in the Penn State locker room.

Jerry Sandusky has been charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse over a period of 15 years.  He denies all claims, and refers to his relationships with these young men as close and ‘family-like’.  “All the times were precious times, they were significant times,” he claims.

“These allegations are false. I didn’t do those things,” Sandusky  told The Times investigative reporter Jo Becker.
